K. K. Subramaniam from Bangalore, India (since 2005) 2009-Dec-25

Etoys is an excellent choice for a portable "soft" computer for young learners. It is compact enough to be carried along on a USB portable medium, extensible and isolates children from the rapid changes (and obsolescence) associated with physical hardware. It gets young learners to focus on the essential details and not get distracted by the bells and whistles.

Eduardo Caldas from Viana do Castelo, Portugal (since 2009) 2009-Dec-18

Ainda estou a conhecer o Etoys.

We need an online lecture series and podcast on learning squeak. Something like high school or community college level course instruction would make adoption easier for those of us who aren't in college to learn to program.

Merik Voswinkel from Utrecht / Groningen, Netherlands (since 1997) 2009-Nov-27

I see Etoys both as an example of how to teach powerful ideas (in Science) better than any 'official' school system I know of and as a first step toward a scripting system for the new user interfaces for computers, mobile phones and the world wide web based on Morphic. That is why we called our startup company Morphle, to widen the use of these concepts.
