  • What is Squeak E-toys?

Etoys is a media-rich authoring environment that encourages deep learning through experimentation.

Children use Etoys to make their own models, stories, and games, which keeps them engaged because it's a lot of fun. But Etoys isn't just child's play. Etoys makes abstractions more palpable, allowing children to visualize and explore new ideas.

    Hands On Workshops

Many workshops are planned for the three days of the event. The are sessions aimed to all users from all levels: "first time Squeakers" are all invited for the beginners workshops.

To showcase classroom use, we'll have sessions with local children. Teachers will be able to sit and work with the students, learning both Etoys and how to teach with it.

    Presentations

Besides the workhops, the Squeakfest Brasil is planned to have works presentations, followed by moments for discussion and construction of plans to use Squeak Etoys in the School.

Among the speakers there are researches and educators pioneers in the use of Squeak Etoys from around the world (USA, Brasil, Uruguai, Germany, among others). The keynote speaker will be Léa Fagundes (side picture).
