William Stelzer


William Stelzer is a freelance artist/filmmaker who specializes in digital media. He has lived in St. John since 1992 and has worked on numerous film and video projects for a wide variety of organizations in the Virgin Islands including AT&T, Texaco, Chase Bank, Heineken, MSI, VI Health and the CDC, NPS, USGS, USVI Tourism and Friends of the Virgin Islands National Park. Prior to living in St. John he worked as Graphics Director for ABC-TVÂ’s affiliate in Central Texas during the First Gulf War and as a Special Visual Effects Director recreating accidents for personal injury lawsuits using computer and model animation. He was also part of a research expedition into the Venezuelan Amazon to study burial cave artwork and has taught computer graphics in West Africa as part of an AIDS project. In addition he did design work on the prototype of an first generation game controller for computer train simulators as well as acted as technology advisor for a small Christian elementary school. Most recently he has designed and written for the St John Sun Times, an award winning cultural newspaper in the Virgin Islands and shot footage high on a Peruvian glacier to help document the effects of its melting on the indigenous peoples dependent upon it for survival.
