After making the "Follow the Road", the challenge is now to make the car drive down the middle of the road.
drive a car, color sees color, feedback
I like the project the two 11 year olds did a good job. The challenge of having the car drive down the middle of the road, could be used as part of some courseware (without the answer shown as it is in this example). Then it would be up to the teacher to verbalize for the kids what they have done and point out how the tests operate independently of each other without "knowing" what the other is doing and how these independent operations can work together to do amazing things. Like have a car that can drive itself. Now kids can you modify the scripts so that it can drive with other cars on the road and not have an accident? Please ask these 11 year olds how they do that in Etoys or better instead of giving me the answer, ask them how to sense distance to another object. Feedback appreciated.
Pretty cool idea, though I was looking for a "restart" and some feedback as to how well I did at "driving." After re-launching the project, I decided to play with driving the car backwards after it got halfway... But I got it stuck in the mud to where it would not move at all. Again, looking for the magic "reset the world" button :-)
A beautiful and classic project.
